Managing Change with Cultural Sensitivity

Change is an inherent part of life in a team or organization, and the only constant in a growing one. Introducing and managing change requires an ability to manage change in oneself and apply that change to the system in which one is working. Managers and leaders know that managing change is important to the health and effectiveness of an organization.

The effectiveness of various change and conflict management strategies are always influenced by cultural considerations. Mentoring in managing change explores the impact of cultural differences, including gender, ethnicity and race on the dispute resolution process. Leaders will examine the various models for training managers to intervene in disputes where cultural differences are a factor. This work prepares leaders to bring personal and professional competencies in cross-cultural conflict resolution for harmonious, intercultural and multiethnic organizations.

Leaders who seek a better understanding of culture and conflict (as it is applied to gender, ethnicity and race) are encouraged to learn the personal competencies as well as how to implement them in small and large systems to be better equipped to thrive in the post-September 11 organizational realities.
